PENGUATAN PEMBELAJARAN LITERATIF MELALUI PENDAMPINGAN GURU DI MI DARUL HIJRAH MADANI KUPANG
Abstract
This community service program aimed to strengthen literacy-based learning through teacher mentoring at MI Darul Hijrah Madani, Kupang City. The program was motivated by the limited integration of literacy activities into classroom learning, where reading activities tended to focus on reading texts without being followed by critical comprehension, discussion, writing, and communication activities. The program employed a participatory, educative, practical, mentoring, and reflective approach. The activity was conducted in the form of a one-day workshop and practical mentoring session lasting approximately three hours. The implementation included preparation, orientation, delivery of literacy materials, discussion, simulation, and development of literacy-based learning activities. The mentoring introduced the concept of literacy as an integrated learning practice through reading routines, classroom reading corners, text-based activities, children's literature, simple learning media, discussion, writing, and presentation. The results indicate that teacher mentoring provides a practical framework for strengthening teachers' understanding of literacy and developing learning activities that actively engage students with texts. Literacy-based learning can be implemented through a sequence of pre-reading, while-reading, post-reading, discussion, writing, and presentation activities. The program also emphasizes that the sustainability of madrasah literacy depends on teachers' capacity and commitment to consistently integrate literacy practices into daily learning. Thus, teacher mentoring is a strategic step toward developing a sustainable literacy ecosystem and more active, communicative, contextual, and meaningful learning environment at the madrasah.
